The intent of the Salt Spring National Art Prize is to encourage artists whose practice demonstrates originality, quality, integrity, and creativity.
Chosen by consensus of the jury.
All finalists are eligible through an application process. Artist residency details will be announced at a later date.
Four awards of $4,000, each selected by one of the jurors.
1st prize – $3,500 2nd prize – $2,500 3rd prize – $1,500 Youth vote – $1,500 On-line People’s Choice – $1,000
The jury is made up of four eminent Canadian artists, curators, and collectors, operating independently from the SSNAP Society.
A new jury is selected for each SSNAP exhibition and the artists’ identities are anonymous to the jury during the finalist selection process. After finalists have been selected, jurors travel to Salt Spring Island to select the winners of the Salt Spring Prize and the Juror’s Choice Awards at an in-situ viewing of the exhibition.
SSNAP 2025/26 received 1,762 submissions from Canadian artists.
